HMS Illustrious - Future Concept for Royal navy Aircraft Carrier
Our design is a brave interpretation of such a yacht, stating boldly its new purpose whilst paying respect to the impressive heritage. We can see the illustrious concept enduring as a design and in reality with its clipper inspired forms developed with a highly capable and unique platform. Our illustrious concept extends the yacht’s life well into the foreseeable future with innovation, creativity and an eye for detail. Nothing like the illustrious concepts exists in the world and was a great opportunity to create a highly relevant, unique yacht that will be sure to continue giving great service and be seen in all of its elegance and grace in the many scenarios that the future holds for such a distinguished vessel.
The most identifiable aspects of the illustrious have become key points in the new design such as the ski jump ramp- although all new, it uses angles, curves and shapes that made the original illustrious recognisable and innovative. The triple forms placed on the deck are inspired by sails from clipper ships and give the concept a powerful outline for all to see as well as being elegant and very purposeful. Sculpted forms make for unrivalled living areas, practical space and an advanced aesthetic to make sure that it will be a yacht of beauty and purpose for years to come.
